about CarGirl
Playing on car lifts at her Dad’s service station when she was a kid, Teri formed opinions about cars at a very young age. Drawing distinct opinions about rotary knobs versus push-buttons, long sloping hoods versus upright regal sedans, her parents often lost her in the crowds at the car shows, as she pushed her way into the front seat, pushing and pulling, touching and caressing, delighting and scowling at what she thought was a massive delight or oversight made by the manufacturer.
Teri knew she’d spend the rest of her life playing with cars, even if it was just a hobby. But, as luck would have it, she made her way to a leading auto manufacturer, put those opinions into action in their Product Planning department, stood up for the customer’s right to quality in the Perceived Quality department, and now conducts research with consumers to aid in the concept and product development of future vehicles. “It’s just amazing how often I hear in these consumer groups, that women are taken advantage of during the whole car buying experience—by shoddy dealers, misguided advice, crooked financing teams…” She said. “It’s time to do something about this…”
“And, every time a girlfriend of mine is ready to buy a new car, she gives me a call and asks ‘What should I look at?’. She has no idea what’s out there, and has no idea where to even start looking for information, other than the ads on TV or long lists of cars on the internet.”
And so, voila, CarGirl, a name already given to her by her friends. Teri thought that she’d put her personal experience on the web, to share with all women who are ready to buy a new car.
